When discussing the ‘Hottest Women in Latin America’, or ‘The Easiest Place to Bang Latina’s’, Central America rarely shows up in the discussion. The only thing most people perceive about those countries is that people from there are pouring over our southern border.
Countries like Honduras and El Salvador top the charts as some of the most dangerous countries in the Western Hemisphere, if not the world. They’re certainly not atop the ‘bucket list’ of most people. Sure, there are plenty of pasty white folks who head down to Costa Rica, but otherwise you’d be hard-pressed to find people who have traversed countries like Guatemala and Belize (though my brother visited the latter).
Why Visit Central America?
While it may be easy to brush off this region, Central America has a unique flavor and advantages over nearby countries.
For one, it’s cheap as hell. Food, lodging, and transportation shouldn’t break the bank—if they do you’re getting ripped off. For ‘ballers on a budget’ looking to enjoy some sun, surf, and Latina pussy, these countries are a damn good deal.
The fact that it’s off the beaten tourist trail (with the exception of Costa Rica which is “is officially ‘Gringo’d out’”) brings a few benefits. For one, exploring lands that aren’t well tread is fun and exhilarating. You can wow friends with tales of treachery and conquest. Additionally, being a Gringo will get you some stares from girls in places like El Salvador.
Is it safe?
What a pussy question…
But seriously, Central America isn’t as dangerous as you might think:
These countries are safe enough that a dirty blond gringo can stumble home drunk at four in the morning through the back streets and not get mugged. There are other countries in the region where you can’t so much as walk outside past dusk without the threat of mugging.”
However, in places like El Salvador and Nicaragua, you have a strong chance of getting your ass beat. MP informs of getting jumped in El Salvador—please be cautious.
For reference, four of the top six countries in terms of homicide rate are found in Central America. Although much of that stems from the drug trade, it does devolve into crime across the board.
What to Expect from A Bachelors Guide to Central America
If you’re looking for a guide that will show you the ins and outs of travel and dating in this region, look no further. As MP describes it:
This is the Lonely Planet guide for Bachelors on a trip through Central America.”
The guide is quite thorough. This really comes to light in the section on venue recommendations. He goes into extraordinary details, and although nightclubs are fickle, they should come in handy.
Additionally, he provides tentative itineraries for all the countries in the region. So if you’re stuck and aren’t sure where to go or for how long, he’s got your covered.
A shortcoming with this guide was that the author didn’t visit every country:
I only visited Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and El Salvador.”
This isn’t a huge deal. For one, I wouldn’t visit Honduras, nor would I recommend it. It’s really bad, with the highest homicide rate in the world by far.
Belize is well…Belize. It’s a tiny country with really nothing more to do than scuba diving. My brother visited there and didn’t have much to say about it.
Where MP isn’t able to talk about his experiences, he fills the gap with data gathered from seasoned boots on the ground. This data is more than enough.
Planning Your Trip
As previously mentioned, the itineraries are quite through. Additionally, these itineraries are geared towards short term travel. This is because in large part because,
Central America is not made for city living. You should not visit Central America and spend a majority of your time in cities, like I did. No matter where you are in Central America—there is a beach and/or mountain somewhere within two hours of you, often only an hour or so.”
And if you’re looking to book a flight ASAP, heed his advice:
If I could only pick one Central American country to visit, I’d pick Panama.”

Hopefully this review has convinced you to put Central America on your radar. It really has something to offer everyone—the broke backpacker, the love tourist, and the international playboy.
